SUNDAY 13 JULY 2008
The wait at base camp
We are at base camp of Nanga Parbat, the 3950 metres. And ‘all ready to leave, the backpacks are made. The weather should be improving, we have now. I feel an emotion identical to that on the eve of the first day of school. We have studied all the details, with photographs, but the truth is that we do not know what awaits us, it’s all new. Karl is changing way of doing mountaineering and I am happy to do it with him. Search new walls, difficult and not equipped. If the summit will find good time we thought of opening a new route for the descent because the Buhl is now a motorway. We will see.
